Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC)
 History
South Pars gas field is the world’s largest independent gas reservoir. It is located on the borderline of Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf, and is considered to be one of the major sources of energy in Iran. The gas field is spread in an area of 9,700km of which 3,700 square km (South Pars) is in the Iranian territorial water. The in-place volume of gas belonging to Iran is estimated to be around 14 TCM, and some 18 billion barrels of gas condensates, which account for 8 percent of the world’s gas reserves and almost half of the country’s gas reserves. Speeding of exploitation of the country’s largest gas reserve which contains half of the country’s natural gas resaves necessitated establishment of an independent structure with an especial executive structure to take care of South Pars gas fields’ affairs.
Hence, POGC was founded in early 1999.
POGC as a subsidiary company of South Pars and North Pars gas field and Golshan and Ferdowsi fields.

So far, phases 1 to 10 of South Pars Gas field have come on stream, and phase 11 to 24 are under construction and are being commissioned relying on the significant efforts of local experts.
